- June 7, 2004: New MREC Treasurer Elected. A special meeting
of the Board of Directors was held on June 7th to elect a new Treasurer. Bill
Johnson (Alliant Energy) was elected by a majority vote. He replaces Mark
Raabe, who previously held the dual role of Secretary and Treasurer.
- March 5, 2004: MREC Board of Directors elects new officers.
Rick Seeling (United Services Group) was elected as the new MREC President
and Susan Crane (We-Energies) was elected as the new president-elect. Also,
Susan Crane replaced Dan Tonder (Minnesota Power) the Executive Committee.

- March 5, 2004: Chuck DeNardo steps down from Board of Directors.
Chuck DeNardo (We-Energies) stepped down from the Board of Directors.
His replacement is Susan Crane. Ms, Agriculture Program Manager, Customer
Operations.
- March 5, 2004: Dale Bowe steps down from the Board of Directors.
Dale Bowe (Wisconsin Public Service Corp.) stepped down from the Board of
Directors. His replacement is Mike Kawleski, Agribusiness Marketing Leader.
- Jan. 20, 2004: South Dakota Cooperative Services Alliance (CSA)
of South Dakota joins the MREC. The CSA is composed of 17 distribution
cooperatives. It received a Corporate Affiliate Membership.
- June 24, 2003: Iowa State University joins the MREC. The MREC board
approved a resolution to its by-laws to create a new ex-officio seat on the
board, to be filled by a representative of Iowa State University. The board
approved a second resolution that expands the Executive Committee to include
a representative of Iowa State University. Dr. Jay Harmon is the representative

- May 14, 2003: Steve Meyer appointed to the MREC Board. The Wisconsin
Electric Cooperative Association appointed Steve Meyer as a representative
to the MREC board. Steve fills the seat previously vacated by Dick Caley of
Scenic River Energy Coop.
- March 7, 2003: MREC board elects new officers. Dan Tonder (Minnesota
Power) completed the term of former president, Dick Caley. The board then
ratified his tenure as president for 2003. The board elected Rick Seeling
(United Services Group, MN) as the new President-elect. Minnesota Rural
Electric Association appointed Tim Weir (Stearns Electric Assn., MN) to replace
Steve Kosbab on the MREC board.Further information regarding the officers

- February 15, 2003: Dick Caley resigns from MREC Board. Dick Caley
(Scenic River Energy Coop., WI), current MREC President and board member,
submitted his resignation. The president-elect, Dan Tonder (Minnesota Power)
assumed the post as president. No replacement has been announced by the Wisconsin
Electric Cooperative Association to fill its seat on the MREC board.
- December 27, 2002: Lynndon Brooks dies. Former secretary of the Wisconsin
Farm Electric Council -- predecesor of the Midwest Rural Energy Council --
was secretary from 1961-1987. Please consult his obituary
for further information.
- September 12, 2002: The MREC board approves unanimously a Strategic
Plan for 2003-2008. The Plan must be approved by the general membership
before it may be implemented. The document will be submitted for a vote at
the Meeting of the General Membership, to be held in conjunction with the
2003 conference.
- July 16, 2002: Rob Ash resigns from the MREC board. Rob Ash stepped
down from his seat on the board. This decision was prompted by a promotion
to Customer Service Manager at the WPS office in Chilton, WI. His replacement
is Dale Bowe.
- March 1, 2002: Revision to MREC By-laws.In conjunction with the 2002
Conference, the membership voted to adopt a revision to the by-laws.

- March 1, 2002: MREC Board of Directors elects new officers.
Rob Ash completed the year as the MREC president. Dick Caley became
the new president, and the MREC board elected Dan Tonder as the new President-elect.

- September 21, 2001: Jim Schrandt of Consumers Energy retires.

- October 23, 2000: MREC Board of Directors elects Rob Ash as new President
Elect: The MREC board held a special meeting to elect a new President-elect.
Robert Ash of Wisconsin Public Service Corp. was elected unanimously.
- October 15, 2000: Brian Guenther steps down from the MREC Board of Directors.
Brian Guenter announced that he will resign from the MREC board and
Xcel Energy in order to accept a position with an engineering consulting business
in Chippewa Falls, WI. A new representative to the MREC board will be
appointed by Xcel Energy at a future date. Mr. Guenther held the position
of President-elect of the MREC.
- September 14, 2000: Michael Moore steps down from the MREC Board
of Directors. Michael Moore announced at the fall business meeting in
Red Wing, MN that he will step down from the board in order to pursue new
career opportunities with Wisconsin Public Service. He announced that
he will be replaced by Robert Ash.
- September 14-15, 2000: MREC fall business meeting held in Red Wing,
MN. The MREC board held its annual fall business meeting at Red
Wing, MN. See the minutes of meeting for details.
- September 1, 2000: Jim Biesterveld appointed to the MREC board.
The Wisconsin Electrical Cooperative Association appointed Jim Biesterveld
to the MREC Board. Mr. Biesterveld replaces Paul Hermanson. Mr.
Biesterveld is a master electrician with Dunn County Electric.
