DCH Fuel Cell System vs. Conventional Stack Design
Conventional Stack
- Uses humidified air.
- Requires cooling plates.
- Strives to attain isothermal conditions.
- Condensate tends to form on the air side (high FF DPs).
DCH System
- Uses “dry” air.
- Provides in-situ evaporative cooling - no cooling plates.
- Substantial temperature gradient between air inlet and outlet.
- Design for uniformly increasing air temperature.
- Minimizes condensate formation (lower pressure drops).
