DCH believes that portable fuel cells must meet the following design requirements:
- Systems must be simple and reliable.
- The system and all components must be amenable to high volume manufacturing.
- Relatively high energy densities are required.
- No active humidification is allowed.
- Low stack hydrogen pressure is desirable.
- No water pressurization or forced flow is allowed.
- Minimal sensitivity to orientation is beneficial.
- Active cooling by a simple fan may be allowable to expand the operating envelop to higher temperature and humidity ranges.
