About the Speaker:
Mr.
Hackner is Region Manager for GDS Associates. His responsibilities include managing energy efficiency and renewable energy
projects in Wisconsin and the Midwest region overall, and for assisting the GDS
principal-in-charge for the Wisconsin Focus on Energy Commercial and Industrial
pilot program with on-going project administration and implementation tasks. He
is also is responsible for administration, planning, analysis, implementation
and evaluation of electric and gas energy efficiency programs and renewable
energy programs, market transformation and renewable resource programs,
strategic planning, policy analysis, benefit/cost analysis, market research,
statistical analysis and other energy industry policy, regulatory and planning
projects for existing and future clients.
Prior
to joining GDS, Mr. Hackner was an Associate Director at the Energy Center of
Wisconsin. When he joined the Center in 1990, he brought experience in HVAC
technology evaluation, model and software development, product design, project
management, data and model verification protocols, and data monitoring and
analysis. As Associate Director, he was responsible for coordinating
technology‑based research and demonstrations and managing the
publications, computer support, and library departments.
Mr.
Hackner received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1982 and his M.S. in
Mechanical Engineering in 1984 from the University of Wisconsin‑Madison.
He has published in energy journals and has made presentations in the U.S. and
Ireland. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Wisconsin and an active
member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
Engineers, as well as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
